Chiseled Rocks

These are the design elements used throughout this site, as you’ve probably have guessed. Another offshot of the Procyonian theme, they were created as a traditional ornamentation style. The scenario states they apparently are a remnant of an ancient ideographic writing system, which no one can read them anymore and which is used for decoration. (You can see these ornamental bands in some focco pictures, for example on this dancer’s ribbons.)

The icons were designed to fit into the same block size. Some of them are quite obvious, some are cryptic, some were designed specifically to be of uncertain meaning. A lot of them deal with life and fertility issues. The major influence on the design were the Mayan hieroglyphics from which they derive their blocky aspect, and the paleolythic art.
